The second coming soon?

The second coming of Jesus Christ – it’s not really as far-fetched as the average cynic might think.

I mean, it might not be any crazier than say Jurassic Park – Christian style.

Many believe The Shroud of Turin, a centuries-old cloth that bears the image of a crucified man, was the actual linen wrapped around the body of Jesus Christ after he was crucified.

Many call it a medieval forgery.
The controversy raging around the artifact never ceases to fascinate me.

Studies have neither proved nor disproved its authenticity.

There is, however, a bloodstain in the forehead area of the image. And this is where the controversy about its authenticity becomes an issue that stirs the steaming pot of what-if questions in my mind.

What if . . . the Shroud is an actual relic? What if . . . it is the linen in which Christ was wrapped and it is His blood on the shroud?

Could scientists then isolate the DNA found in the blood on the shroud? If scientists isolated the DNA found on the shroud, would they be then be able to clone that DNA?

Could scientists clone the body of Christ? If a scientist were to clone a person – in this case, Jesus Christ – would His soul be cloned, then, too? Would it be the second coming?

In creating a clone of Jesus Christ, would scientists accidentally prove what many have been trying to disprove all along?

Of course, as a hobby I write fiction, and I’m always looking for a good story to tell. These thoughts first originated from a fiction writer’s viewpoint. (Unfortunately, I’m more of the literary persuasion. It’d probably be best to save the scientific thrillers for Michael Crichton types.)

But this idea keeps me intrigued on so many levels and has sparked so much debate in my own mind, I thought I’d share the idea with my blog readers to see what you think.

So, what do you think?

The Shroud....mmmmm.....

Yeah, not so much. I've never been into the "Oh my gosh, is that an image of ____ on that wall, or in that splash of tomato juice on the wall?" Whether it's the virgin Mary, Jesus, etc.

I just don't think He works that way, and it's our sad attempt at trying to HOLD on to HIM physically. We need to hold HIM in our hearts, thoughts and deeds.

Your creative mind is amazing, Kat. What if we cold clone, DNA.....oh my. You could make all that into a funky piece of fiction.......

Wow! That would be some book! A clone of Christ?? You would defiantly have a good seller (albeit, controversial) on your hands. You have some vivid inventive mind, girl!

Let me know when it publishes. ;O) Blessings,
