No can be a positive word

I had to say no to a loved one on Saturday. It was probably one of the hardest nos I've ever said.

My husband and I have always been tied together through music. In fact, his pick-up line when we met was, "So, you want to be in a band?"

No lie.

Throughout 18 years of marriage, we've played together in two regionally successful music groups, and we've had some really good times.

He started feeling the urge to put another project together a few months ago, and the line-up fell quickly into place.

The plan included having me at lead vocals again, and I was okay with the idea. But I wasn't thrilled.

I thought I'd get more excited after jamming a couple of times, but after one afternoon in front of the mic, I knew my heart wasn't in it.

So I broke the news to my hubby on Saturday that I was going to pass on the opportunity this time.

He said he was disappointed, but he understood.

I don't think it's ever anyone's intention to hurt or disappoint someone when we have to tell them no. But sometimes it's necessary to disappoint others and walk away from opportunities for the sake of our own happiness.

There's nothing wrong with that.

Just be sure that saying no is really the correct move and not a moment you'll end up regretting down the road.

You have a beautiful voice! I understand why you said no, but I still LOVE to hear you sing! =o) I am glad that Dana is getting back into music. He is so talented. I swear he can play almost any song you throw out to him.
