Writerly Wednesday: Stepping Off

I'm suffering from a severe case of creative dehydration.

My method of recovery involves taking a break from blogging for a couple of weeks. (That'll probably go over like a lead balloon.)

I'm on the schedule to do a blog chain post on Sunday, May 23, so I'll be back by then for sure.

In the meantime, I have a question for all of you, my awesome writerly friends.

Has there ever been a time when you've felt the need to take a break from writing? If so, how long? Do you think it helped you refresh your creativity?

I write in spurts as it is, so I've never really felt a need to take a break. It's more that I'll have an idea and run with it for awhile. Then the rest of life finds a way to take over. Enjoy your break! :)

So far I can't seem to keep away from blogging, but I definitely need long hours off-line to get any work down. But so far the business of my non-writing life imposes creativity breaks for me.
Good luck on your break!

Have a great break! I'll be joining you next week. Well, not literally joining you. But you know what I mean.

Maybe the fountain of creativity rid you of your dehydration. ;)

I can't stop writing, blogging, emailing. I get testy if I don't. I've taken a break from blogging, but that just meant emailing stories to friends/pen pals more. The words in my head are incessant.

You'll be missed!
Nope, haven't felt the need to take a break yet. I'm sure that time'll come for me, too, someday.

Enjoy your time of rest. I'll be thinkin' of ya!

I take breaks from writing a lot. Usually because I'm stuck... They can last months. Because of this, I have a hard time seeing myself/calling myself a writer...

Enjoy your break. We will miss you!

I'll miss hearing from you! I can understand the need to take a break. Sometimes I think we just need to rest and focus on other things, especially if writing has become stressful. It's supposed to bring joy to your life, and if it doesn't, then taking a break is a good idea.

I don't ever need a break from writing but YES from blogging. It's fun. It's rewarding but it's exhausting.

Take a break. We will be waiting.

I can relate to this. I've taken a 3-month break before. It seemed like forever but it was so necessary to refresh and get going with new ideas.

I hope you have a refreshing break! I definitely have times where I need a break from writing...it's just as important to stop work as it is to do it. ;)

Thanks everyone for your support. I've had some really crazy stuff happen in my life in the past couple of weeks.

Unfortunately, I won't be returning to blog for awhile yet. It's been an emotional rollercoaster and I'm hoping my family and I are on the downhill slope now.

Thoughts and prayers are much appreciated! Thanks again!
