I couldn't imagine the anguish such a situation would cause.

I'd heard from his close friends that he'd been struggling with alcoholism. I know firsthand the desperation involved dealing with withdrawal and the depression that comes with it.

I could write forever on dual diagnosis with addiction, depression and trigger events, but that's ... ugh...for another time.Kathryn Hupp-Harrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03776391661543060879noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2430542938163277075.post-7204756591610681642009-02-19T09:35:00.000-06:002009-02-19T09:35:00.000-06:00The story about the tragic suicide of the boy you ...The story about the tragic suicide of the boy you knew makes me think about something I discussed with a friend recently.

Suicide is an aggressive act against others, not just against oneself. What a terrible thing for the poor girl who had the misfortune to date a guy who decided he'd "show her" by killing himself in her driveway. That doesn't void my compassion for him, in his mixed-up teenage pain and rage, but my pity and sympathy for her is greater. I hope she had a good therapist who helped her realize that if he had a slightly different psychological makeup, he would have killed her instead of himself. The one act is no less violent, excusable, or tragic than the other.

Excuse my strong feeling on the subject. I had a friend whose boyfriend killed himself and left a note blaming her. The psychological damage was an awful thing to see.Rosslyn Elliotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11304732306399786236noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2430542938163277075.post-18849086642235281772009-02-18T23:38:00.000-06:002009-02-18T23:38:00.000-06:00Love this series - I always use a lot of dream stu...Love this series - I always use a lot of dream stuff in my novels.
